Can i shorten the tracks

I have a hd 6 the idlers are all the way out can I pull a pad and link. i just got this dozer it had been sitting for years. i want like to lube it and do the right things so it does not cost me a arm and leg to run any info would great. I see no grease fitting on the rolls are sealed or can i do something one roller looks like cat yellow is that possable that cat interchanges with ac it is a 1965

I would not remove a link. If the tracks are this worn, then the pitch changed enough that running them will wear out the spockets. Go ahead and remove the master pin and take the tracks to a track shop. It is not that much money and it sure beats fighting sloppy tracks.

You can take out a link for now Keith, but do it at the at the master link, that pin fits looser and can be driven out easier. If the tractor runs good otherwise, think about saveing up for some undercarrage work, then you will have a reliable tractor. I don't know about the oils, but someone else here will and may help you find an operators manual too.
