Case 310G final drive sprocket

I'm about to purchase a non-running 310G track loader, and I noticed the final drive sprocket has come "un-screwed". I don't see any sign of a jam-nut, or anything else to hold the sprocket on. How hard is this to repair? Is this a serious problem? The other side appears to be welded flush with the end of the shaft. Any suggestions on problems I should look for? What is a non-running (it was running when last parked a few years ago) 310G worth?

Thanks,
Joe

Joe,

Top price for non-running crawler with bad final drives would be $1500.

Sprockets, axles, bearings and if needed pinions and bull gears are expensive.

I've bought 5 crawlers in the last 8 months. Only one had good final drives.

New sprockets are for CASE 350's with a spacer to make it fit on your 310 axles.

If you are near Ohio, let me know if you're not interested in it. I'm looking for a 310G or 350. I've hauled them from as far away as New Jersey.

can you give me the sprocket part number for the 35o and an idea of how it fits with the spacer. The case dealer says that ithe 350 is wider than the 310.

Thank you . could you respond to my email address.

I may be williing to sell my 310G. runs great has only the sprocket problem and generator problems. Engine has been rebuilt. uses no oil. Has winch and mainual angle blade.

Bob

Congratulation, you've just discovered the weakest link in the Terratrac/Case 310 line crawler- the sprocket/axle splines. This is so common that it's "uncommon" to find one in good shape. Welding the nut to the sprocket is the most common "fix". I have also seen the sprocket drilled thru the axle and a bolt put in. This doesn't work either. Cost for sprockets from Case are ~$400.00 a sprocket. Never checked the cost of the axle- too afraid :-(

Hi Joseph
The usual reason that a sprocket is welded is that the splines are worn out.Once it is welded you can no longer take it apart.(makes repair rather hard)and it makes you cut it with a torch to remove it and replace shaft and sprocket.
I do not know if you want to get into that!
regards,clarkray.
