I recently bought a Model E Carco winch for the back of my Allis-Chalmers Model M crawler. I've seen that particular winch on two other M's, and installation is not a problem. I do need some information on the winch, like a exploded diagram sheet or an operations manual. There is a brake lever and shift lever on one side and an unknown lever on the other, which is now frozen. Does anyone know what that third lever does, or have any information or leads?

Bill, thanks for the info. I have a line on a parts catalog, with exploded drawings. If I can get it, I think I'll be able to get my winch working again, and maybe have some infomation for anyone else that has an "E Model" winch. I hate to tear into something complicated without a little guidance or reference material. The Carco winch on that brochure looks similar, but oddly different somehow. It must be a modified case to bolt directly to that crawler. Thanks again.

Hey Marty, did you ever get a manual onyour Carco E winch because I am a first timer with a TD 9 Ih crawler dozer with a Carco Model E 24 serial # 3847 winch on it and it works but does not have a cable on it and I would like to have some information about it and to understand how it connects to the reel. Thank's > My e-mail adress is reality@ntelos.net
