What is the equivalent of NLGI 000 grease ? Is it 85W-90WT ?
Just curious as it's for a rotary cutter gear box, just got the Servis Rhino book for it, calls for NLGI 000, so I got er flipped over and drained out the chocolate milk in the gear box. Old lube looked ok except the color, no metal particulates like silver paint or chunks etc. Gear box does not leak at the shaft either, so after some other repairs it ought to be good to go.
Have to admit to the great achievment of running over the tail wheel which fell off unbeknownst to me on the previous pass while it was getting dark (sure was quick to shut er off), got new blades, and after a careful visual inspection, I found a lot of broken welds on the deck, and a few small stress cracks on the pan, all minor, some grinding and some single passes with 1/8" 7018 ought to take care of them, almost a good thing this happened, eventually that deck could have come apart, and the blades were quite hammered, they take a lot of abuse that is for sure.
Still looking for the outer rim with the tire segements on this one, little different than others, someone mentioned it being the same on a King Cutter, the rest is not damaged, worst case, have to go for a complete new assembly. Darned parts diagram is vague on the part number, have to guess as it could be one of many part numbers.

At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p
