I know exactly what you went through. I am no where as knowledgeable as you are in computers, or understanding towel heads. I had the same problem with vista, so I finally called a friend of mine, and he told me how to reset my computer to operate like it was programed in the past. That fixed all of my problems, but I am still operating with XP, and I want to keep it that way. When ever that computer update appears on the bottom of the screen, I ignore it and it will go away.
