Our garbage trucks at fort Ord were GMCs with 500 CID V-6 gas engine and a 5 speed allison truck tranny behind it. I sent more of them to the shop for repair than you can shake a stick at. they won't standup to a heavy load. the other trucks had 350s in them and standard trannies never had to send one of them out for repair. I have always liked the standard but this new Ranger of mine has an awful problem with clutches. I'm thinking of putting a racing clutch in next time. But I still like the old spur gear 4 speed trannies they will last forever, it just akes a week or two to learn how to shift them. Walt
