I have a 2003 Duramax 6 speed. Great motor plenty of power and torque. I have had no trouble with the truck except the radio died and was replaced on warrenty. The only trouble GM has had with the Duramax is the Bosch injectors. On the 2001-2004 the injector seals or injector bodys can fail allowing fuel into the crankcase. The injectors are under the valve covers on these early engines so it takes a lot of labor to replace them and costs around $4500 for a dealer to do it. Good thing is that GM has extended the warrenty on the fuel system to 7 years or 200000 miles on the 2001 to 2004 trucks. With a Durmax there is no need to chip them, it just wastes fuel and can cause engine damage. I pull a 25 ft, flatbed and 20 ft. stock trailer all the time with no trouble and I average 17 to 18 MPG loaded. Great truck, you will not be disappointed!
