2003 Ford F150 Climate control

My dad's f150 lariat with the electric climate control (the one with the digital display) is getting to where the heater (and I guess the AC too) is blowing out of just the defroster. We had one that did this with the nobs and I believe it was something to do with a control valve. Do any of you know what causes this, how to fix it and how much it will cost. Also, could you tell me where to locate this air flow director and how to change out the solenoid or vacume piston, which ever it uses or if it is a vacume operated system, where a leak may be and where the line is.
