Til I had the misfortune of having my truck totalled by an idiot that lost control in a curve and hit me head on at 60MPH, I had a '87 F150 with the V8 and overdrive. With it I was getting in the 20MPG range. It had just under 400,000 documented miles and was still running strong with no smoke or noticable oil usage, and it was doing it all on a salvage title due to a previous accident.
