JD 5020 injuction pumr removal

I need to have the injuction pump on my 5020 rebuilt. The repair manual shows the pump being removed and the pump drive shaft staying on the motor. There apears to be seals on the pump drive. Is there a trick to reinstall the pump without damaging the seals. I don't have the seal installation tool shown in the manual. Is it necessary to replace the pump drive seals when the pump is removed? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Stan in calif
