Not sure if there is any difference in the cams...the engines sure lok about the same except fot the oiling systm in the series II.... I only use straight 40W Castrol in ours..both seriesI and a replacement seriesII..and in all the other air-cooled engines here in the summer, and have not had a problem since I changed to the 40 wt... I was told that the Series I should always be filled 1/4" Above the full mark....after one threw a rod...!! I would put dual exhausts on it while it is out..gets rid of a lot of heat, and back pressure--sounds good too....
