Randy, Generally speaking, the high silicate antifreeze will contribute to water pump seal failure and some other undesirable conditions such as gelation. Generally trucks and tractor engines are expensive and that mandates better products be selected for use in them to protect and extend their life. Heavy duty usually denotes diesel. Diesels have an additional problem known as cavitation where the cylinder wall vibrates at a very high frequency. This vibration causes microscopic bubbles to form in the coolant when the cylinder wall flexes away from the coolant. When the cylinder wall flexes back into or against the coolant this small bubble breaks against the cylinder wall and will eventually etch a small hole, erosion, in to the wall. This problem was originally thought to be with wet sleeve diesel engines only but the problem is showing up in just about all diesels. Most heavy duty antifreeze, the kind you ask about, has Supplimental Coolant Additives, SCAs that act as a sacrificial agent to absorb those small bubbles damage. Possibly more than you wanted to know. A high quality antifreeze should work well in any vehicle. ray
