family bought a 9.5 ft discbine last season. book says requires 80 pto hp + used 656 farmall gas (~65pto hp) on it, of course it pulled hard in thick 1st crop stuff so 4 gallons per hour on fuel gets spendy, and the 1256 ih is too big and heavy to go through the meadows (especially since it's all soft ground). Looking for diesel tractors of any make (except JD due to parental preference) that would be relatively cheap yet reliable and efficient to fill the power gap between the two tractors. row crop style is preferred for clearance & safety. dont want something too heavy, or hard to maneuver. minimum is sae 540 pto, and at least one hyd outlet. familiar with ford and ih model numbers and respective hp ranges, lost with the other makes. area is central MN and price threshold is $5000. -karl ps and if it comes with a girl age 16-26 for me....LOL
