My '48 H has a distributor type ignition (non-magneto). Bought used, it has a magneto type light switch, 4-position, and a generator/ regulator combo I just got on E-bay that's probably for a magneto system, i.e., it only has a single bat post and field post on the reg. I'm guessing the generators are the same ,but should I find the proper light switch (no fuse on back,-3 position) as well as another regulator with all the posts? So far, nothing works quite right. The book shows the regulator mounted on the bracket next to the steering post. Most of the regs I've seen are saddle-mounted on the gen. What year did that start? Mine was on the gen. Apologize for the long post. Who's the electrical guru here? Thx.
