Front tire wear

I drove my JD 530 with a tricycle front, carrying a 3 point 8 foot tandem disk on the rear and 3 piece weights for the front of this tractor, on about 60/70 miles of concrete and black top (city streets). The front 2 tires had about 75% tread remaining when I started and ended up with the cords showing on both of them. Most of the time I was driving in the higher gears (going to tractor shows, a play day in the fields and a christmas tree lighting etc). This is the Phoenix, AZ area, so the temperature is in the 55 to 80 degree range. So whats the deal? Front weights? Older tires? Will switching to the wide front help? My friends drive their tractors a lot under much the same conditions and don't seem to have the problem. Please help me!! I'm retired and 66 years old and life is surpose to be really, really simple. Or should I start playing with models? (tractors) Thanks!!!!!! Lowell J Schauer
