I've narrowed it down, FINALLY, to 2 choices. 1. 86 GMC, 1/2 Ton, 4x4, 350, auto, over 100,000 miles, new 33?quot; tires, exhaust w/headers, shocks, brakes, carpet, tonneau cover. Body ? paint good, cab corners have been repaired (I can see goop on the back of the cab), runs great, drives great, has about 3 inches of lift on it. $4900 (talked him down from $5250. 2. 76 Chevy 3/4 ton, 4x4, 350, auto, who knows how many miles, new tires, exhaust, brakes, hood ? fenders ? bed [salvage bed so it's a different color] are good shape, cab corners ? rockers are rusted out (I would have it fixed), runs great, drives great, truck is not lifted and tires are standard size. $2500 (couldn't talk him down any} Mechanical wise I would say both trucks are about the same. The big difference is the cab on the older truck does need fixin. Part of the equation is why I want a truck. I don't need a go to work everyday type of truck. I want something for beatin around the farm/town doing truck stuff. Hauling firewood, dragging logs out of the woods, hauling tractors to and from the fair grounds, might do some plowing, etc. Which one do you think?
