Last summer the drive on my Onan starter wouldn't retract clean when it started. It was an oily dirty mess so I cleaned it out and lubed the bushings and it worked good again. Then I figured the crank seal under the flywheel was probably the source of the oil and it was so replaced the seal.
First couple of times I mowed this year were unusually dusty and dirty and last week the starter drive seized up again. After a little head scratching I remembered about a month ago the organic farmers across the road pulled in with two seven bottoms and a six bottom plow plus a big roto tiller and some big soil finisher and hammered the dirt to dust. A couple weeks later there was a lot of wind out the north (55 mph gusts According to the TV weather girl). I happened to stick my head out of the small garage door that afternoon to see if any tree limbs were down and there was a brown cloud coming out of that field. Think that's my starter drive problem, O well these guys are fun to watch with all their equipment.
