Turn the steering wheel right just to the point it resists a little. Mark where the steering shaft comes out of the dash with a marker pen. Turn the wheel left, and watch the mark. If it moves upward, or disappears, the worm and shaft are moving where they should not. The ball bearing or shims might be loose.
