While I Was there,Laidlaw Transport bought a bunch of Super Duty 1000s with tag axles through Middlesex Ford. They used 6V71s ,5 speed tranny's and 2 speed rear that was remove and the ratios changed. There was room in the shop for 6 units and they knocked of a unit every 5-6 days, shorter if they didn't have to wait for the diferantials. They also did a bunch of GMC's for Verspeeten Transport and Vrootman Cookies. The first Louisville got a 6-71 inline, that was interesting,Ford and dealer reps where tripping over each other, lots of pictures taken, a regular media circus. At the same time they had contract the supply Reefer power units for rail car using 4-53s. It was interesting times.
