I want to see if I can rebuild the fan clutch on my antique car. Mainly because everyone says they are no good and just replace it with a spacer. I think that it would be cool to have a working clutch. Anyway, the only reason that it doesn't work is that the lining came off the shoe. The lining needs to be able to wrap around the shoe which is about 3" in diam. and needs to be about 3/4" wide. The tough part; there appears to be room for only about 3/32 thickness in order for it to back away from the drum. The thinnest that McMaster-Carr has is 1/8. There is also the concern of vulcanizing because it appears that the flexible molded ones need to be vucanized after being glued on, or maybe the vulcanizing is what glues them on. Any ideas?
