My farm family Truckster is a 90 dodge caravan 3.3 v6 . auto with 286k. My dream of pushing it to 300K is about to be crushed, literally, because of a strange lack of throttle problem. About 2 years ago I would notice a "lack of throttle" on hot days after the car had warmed up. Now I don't have any acceleration above about 1800 rpm. I keep pushing the pedal down until its about 1/2 inch from the floor. At that point the transmission drops down a gear and it easily accelerates to over 4000rpm. When I reach the desired speed I slowly let up on pedal and at 3000rpm lose any control of engine speed until it drops below 1800 rpm. My work commute consists of neck snapping acceleration, coast at idle, repeat! My family is all wearing neck braces and drooling when we pass the new car lots. Any ideas? I think it is pre OBD II so its not showing check engine light. Any ideas?
