A distant relative by marriage was the Chief of Police in a small town 80-100 miles south of Chicago in the late 60's. He was a retired Air Force Sky Cop and took the civilian gig to build up a second pension. One day he is "graced" with a visit by one Jessie Jackson, seems the Reverend Jackson was insisting that he hire a black police officer NOW. John listened to him for about 45 seconds, excused himself, picked up a phone and asked that two of his officers report to his office. About 30 minutes later two BLACK police officers from this little town show up at the Chief's office. He introduces them to the Reverend Jackson, informs the officers that the Reverend insists he have one black police officer, turns to one of the officers and says "you've haven't been here as long as the other officer, you're fired now all 3 of you get the hell out of my office!"
