I have a tractor that the hydraulic filter disintegrated on. It looks like a synthetic media, and only about 20% of it is left on the filter. The rest is in the hydraulic system somewhere.
I wanted to pour a few gallons of diesel down through the transmission to see if anything comes out. Bad idea? I don't plan on running it, just straight in and out.
It's an open centre system.
I assume if it was stuck in valves some where, it would have caused a problem already? The loader is a little jumpy at times but never the 3pth or the remotes. Any ideas as to where the filter media may have gone? I don't think the loader valve has too many small ports and it wouldn't work if it did plug one. I'm hoping it's in the bottom of the transmission.
