Gitrib ,i always enjoy your posts, canada is neat and i thank you for the pix ,my heart skipped when i saw THat You ALSO WERE A proud OWNER OF A 57-58,DESOTO,, it has been said , THIS stunning DESOTO design created so much animosity among the other crysler kids thatdesigner Virgal Exner was drummed out of the company ,, and within 3 yrs the orphaned car died from being forced to share parts from its jealous siblings .. you tube has some vintage DESOTO commercials,,pat boone sings bernadine ,and pix of a Fireflite like dads are shown ,, the add BOASTS , This baby will flick its tail at Anything on the Road !,So True for POPS DESOTO FIREFLITE , Dad Bought a 57 FIREFLITE hardtop , RED and White ,,when he 1st saw the car the 360 block was busted from freezin,, Pops army buddy ran the car lot, dad told him , lets find a motor ,Jim!, I Want that car ! , they found a 392 hemi out of wrecked ambulance...Dad had the Air of a King driving Mom and the family to church in the DESOTO ,, i used to wash the gravel dust off that car ,, and i remember the details of the grill and hood ,the hub caps, tail lite fins and sadly where the rust was beginning ,but wow What Handsome Chrome and badging , one queit mornin ,,Pop and i broke the speedometer with plenty pedal to spare , that car hugged the road and cornerd better than anything then or since ,Thanx to The Torsion bar Suspension that was State of the art ,and the fins that were more than JUST art , the wingfins gave the DESOTO Stability at hi speeds , remember how the speedometer had a red/orange liquid look and worked like a thermometer? ,,. i often wonder the tech used on the speedometer,, pop had a lot of nice good dependable tuf cars in his life ,,that 57 Fireflite with a 58 392 motor was Dads Favorite car of All Time. funny dad claimed it was not that bad on gas .
