How thick is the rubber, or how many ply? I have done that once with a .045 cutting wheel in an angle grinder but it was not pretty or fun or nice-smelling at all, and it was not too thick. Might have gone through a couple of cutting wheels, I can't recall. What i remember is that I would cut in a little ways and then the rubber would pinch shut and grab the blade.
