If you have reverse and no forward speeds, I also think the high low shift rail has broke. Take the front wheel drive cover off left side , under clutch pedal. There you will see the reverse shift shaft and fork. Now look up inside to center of tractor top shaft. Move shift lever to high and low range. You should be able to see the range fork move back and forth. I bet it won't move. You don't need a split but you need to remove range trans cover, third arm link cover in rear and with a long arm you can reach that rail over top of differential and pull remainder out. New one can be installed from there also. I use stiff rubber or plastic hose and put rail in that and fish around until you hit the hole. Not an uncommon problem.
