Hi all, last week while mowing my Grandson heard a bang and noticed the ammeter went to discharge so he shut it down, when I caught up with him he told what happened so we traded tractors. I drove over to my shed and proceeded to loosen the alternator behind it was about 3/4's of the the V pulleyside so it was to find another fan pulley etc. After checking locally and E Bay I called a salvage place about 65 miles away and they had a new aftermarket one and an original $80.00 for new and $40.00 for the original. Got there looked them over spum the old one and it rollede nice and smooth, the new one with the sealed bearing in it was a bit ruff and while visting with the gent that owns the place says I'd go with the old original and I said exactly what I was thinking. Got in my shop dissembled it cleaned iot and painted and reassembled it and installed it on the tractor and its working like new. The original hub assy is an amazing bit of engineering and if serviced regularly probably would never wear out.
