The engine in a 350U diesel, or 350 Farmall Diesel was onlyused in that tractor. It is a contenental 193 and many of its parts are difficult to find. Or expensive if available. The engine is not particularly powerful, but is close to the gas engine used in that tractor. It is though about 20 to 25% more efficient on fuel. The engine is a tough starter, using a resistance heater in the intake manifold plenum to preheat the intake air when starting. The owners often used a whif of starting fluid every start after 10 minutes of shutdown from warmed up. In the winter they were pretty tough to start below 15 degrees.
Will it fit. If money is no issue, anything can be done. It will not "bolt in" at all.
It is not quite the least desirable choice, but it is in the bottom 3% of all choices.
A Perkins diesel is far better and much more advisable if a hard swap is done (meaning engine plates, mounts, clutch flywheel starter and cooling systems were fabricated.)
Finding a good engine that fits the tractor is much more desirable. Jim
