I previously posted a message about the fact that my H was discharging to the point of pegging the needle. I got a lot of responses, so here is an update, and a new problem.
1. I have a 6V battery that is grounded POSITIVE.
2. I reversed the leads on the ammeter. I then checked both terminals and they are hot. The ammeter discharges when the lights are turned on, which is as it should be according to all the earlier responses I received.
3. I grounded the ARM terminal on the VR with a jumper wire and then polarized the generator by momentarily jumpering the BAT and ARM terminals...I did get a spark.
4. Now, when the engine is running, I get a charging rate that is 20A+...the needle pegs. What are the next steps I need to take to get the charging rate into the proper range?
Thanks again for all the advice. You guys are great.
