Ferd, so are you saying your hood : A). Doesn`t have the indentations on the side, or B).Just that the indentations showed no signs of white? If it`s "A" , then you don`t have the correct hood. If it`s "B",you are correct in your guess about decals. They came from the factory with IH 901 white colored decals. If there isn`t any evidence of decals on your hood, the hood may have been taken off of a Farmall 100 or 200 at some point in the past 40+ years. To my knowledge, all 230`s should have the white side panels on the hood. Hope this helps,Mark
