I bought this old tractor wintertime project a couple weeks ago. All nice sheet metal except batt. box, new rebuilt generator and starter and nice radiator. The valves were real noisey, no oil to the top, have,nt figured that out yet. I pulled the head off today and there,s very little ridge in the sleeves but the fire crater pistons seem to have a lot of slack rocking them back and forth. I,ve had a bunch of car engines apart and these IH pistons seem loose compared to an average older car engine. I had this thing running a couple times and it did'nt smoke. I think somebody put some money in this and ran it until the valves, guides and rockers started rattleing and parked it. I'm hoping the center cam bearing is in wrong, it's got oil press. on the rear brg. to the gauge and press. on the frt. brg. to the governor but nothing off the center brg. So anyway with out measuring those pistons does a little slop sound like junk? The sleeves sure look nice, I was expecting the pistons to fit tighter.
