Today I changed the hyd oil in the axle housings- Pretty sure it was the first time it was changed since my grandfather bought it new in '64. The book says 5 qts each side, but I got out about 4 gal from both. So, any ideas how it got itself overfilled? Also just got the IH model RD injection pump rebuilt and back on. Bled the fuel system, got fuel to injectors, got smoke out the exhaust, but wouldn't even try to fire. Tried ether, no effect: would neither speed up cranking nor cause knock (btw tractor always needs ether when cold- has for years) Changed fuel filters (boy did they need it) and started right up with a shot of ether. Seeems real strange to me that even without sufficient fuel I couldn't get it to fire on the ether. What does that mean about the engine?
