Three issues rear their heads: The Older M will have a weak timing gear on the cam (OK for timing, not OK for powering the hydraulic pump. The holes in the mount for the distributor drive housing to front covrer are spaced differently. This requires a later 1951 , or SM front cover/housing, or plugging the existing hole with a soft steel bolt, and drilling partway into it to make new threads for the wider spacing of the SM pump. The M parts will not, as a result of the bolt spacing fit the SM to keep it operating.
Why not use the belly pump on the M for power to run the loader. Less handy not being live hydro, but practical and much less work. JimN
