The water pump on my 2404 with the C135 engine has been dripping water for some time. When I went to remove the water pump two of the bolts came out easily. The third bolt also holds the generator bracket. That bolt was already rounded off by someone else. I tried a number of ways to get it off short of heating it with a torch. I will load it up on a trailer tomorrow and take it to a friend who has the equipment to take it out.
Two things have been apparent from this. Number one, I should have changed the pump out when I was rebuilding the engine, but it wasn’t leaking at that time. Dad always said “don’t fix it if it isn’t broke”. Wrong, I should have done it then.
Second, the bolt appears to have been corroded with electrolysis. Could this have been caused by the fact that the generator bracket attached to that bolt? Has anyone else had trouble getting that bolt out?
