You all know I am working on A Stage II SH. I recently posted re the tie rods. Today while the front is up I checked the vertical and side play of the spindles in the front. Seemed excessive. Dropped the spindles and found the bottom bearings have at leat .025-.035 side play on the spindle. And another .025 between outer diameter and spinle housing. When you grab the wheel and push in and out you get a nice clunk, clunk each way. Not at the wheel bearing, in the spindle bearing. Is that bearing toast? How critical is it?It's an enclosed bearing that is used for both rotational and thrust (vertical weight of tractor)bearing. Anyone have any specs on this? There was also about 3/16 inch vertical play. That is the spindle could move up and down that much. This is a no brainer to adjust, just clamp it in place as tight as you want. Question here is how much to allow for up/down play in that housing. I don't have any Schwartz data. Price on new bearings? Gordo
