I finally got to try out my 14 1/2" hammermill today and ran it with my '53 SA. I had my doubts at first because I had read comments by others that they recalled their hammermills making their larger tractors grunt. Maybe their mills were quite a bit bigger. Most of the old hammermills I recall were 8, 10 and 12 inch models. My mill is a Ward's Grainbuster with power conveyor and brother, as fast as you can shovel the corn to it..it swallows it without a hiccup. The little SA performed like a champ and never seemed challenged at all. I have a 1/2" screen installed and got nice fine ground feed as a result. I still wonder who actually built these Ward's mills.
