Sorry this is long winded, but this past Friday I did about 3-4 hours of pretty heavy pasture mowing with my 674. It ran great with no problems. After finishing mowing I disconnected from the bush hog, filled the tank with diesel and parked her in the shed. Today I was at the tractor shed and noticed diesel under the tractor. Standing at the back of the tractor, it was dripping from the left side. It was dripping (kind of bubbling a little) from what appeared to be a plug with an allen wrench inset. I removed the plug and it was hollow, just a plug with an allen all the way through. Upon removing, the drips continued at the same rate, one every 2-3 seconds. I found an old carb plug that was the same size, teflon taped the threads and put in the hole. No more drip. After about 2-3 hours I went back to the tractor and diesel wasn"t dripping from the plug, but it was oozing from the fill cap. When I left the tractor the diesel was below the neck of the tank, now it was at the top and overflowing! I siphoned off a little and so far so good. Is this something to worry about? Why did this happen? When I filled the tank on Friday, I only filled to the bottom of the fill neck, not to the brimming top. Should I remove the plug that I installed and put the hollow allen plug back in? Thanks in advance for your help.
