That fuel you saw dripping from the caarb inlet hose was a result of the float needle valve not sealing. Fuel overflowed there and also into the engine via the governor. Check your engine oil it is probably diluted. Redo the carb float and needle and seat that needle by giving it a very very light tap. Suggest you get a new one. If after cranking for a few times and those plugs are still dry, you have the float assembly afu and it won't allow any fuel to pass. You are on the right track here. In the future, ALWAYS-ALWAYS-ALWAYS shut off the fuel at the strainer bowl. Gordo
