Yep , the cab has to come off and the whole rockshasft housing has to come off . Now some guys just put a new piston seal in but i like to run the hone thru it just to give the new seal something to seat to . Cabs are nice Sometimes but a real pain when ya got to tear them apart . on the 86 seires ya can just lift the rear of the cab a bit and sneak it out but with the factroy cab or aftermarket it is a pain ya may get away with tryen to sneak it out but ya have to have about 6 inches of clearance and be able to get a cherry picker in for the lifting .
