A 706 would do the job ok if it was one of the later ones . We have found that by just adding a few more pony's in front of a round baler that the bales come out better , we have two 706 gassers and befor we rebuilt the one it was a 263 gasser and it ran the baler ok the other late model 706 was also a gasser with the 291 in it and it did a much better job then we put the 806 on the baler and it did even better and we have gone up to the 1066 on the same littel Krone 125 and it will do even better so here again horse power does matter even though all the rest of the fleet will run the Krone 125 just fine the 806 and 1066 make the best bales. Now i think that everybody on this board knows that i like a 706 gasser but now with the price of the high test gass pushen 3.29 on the farm the old rag 806 diesel is getting used more as on the light work it sips fuel . We ran it everyday for over a week planting corn on one full tank and a extra 5 galions added just to be on the safe side on the last field as it was a WEeeeeeee bit steep.
