My 460 Utility needed a voltage regulator. I have a friend who had good used ones, so I got one. The only problem is I'm not sure if it is a 6 or 12 volt regulator. (The tractor is 12 volt.) The 6 and 12 volt regulators look identical on the outside. My old regulator has "12 volt" stamped on it, the other one has nothing on it. My question; Is there any way to tell if it is 6 or 12 volt? Also, if it is 6 volt, what would happen if I hook it up and start the tractor? Would anything get damaged? (I,m not worried about damaging the regulator, it was free.) Thank you for any help! P.S. I know! I've been told many times to convert it to an alternator, but the generator is working fine. Someday I will convert it.
