To remove the casting, you must take the bull gears out of the way. If you persist in pulling on the castong , it will break and then you have an excellent excuse to remove the transmission cover. Just get a couple chisels, new Vise Grip, hammer, and patience then go to work without removing the casting. Replace the old WIDE seal with 2 new ones from your IH dealer. Put a dab of Permatex or silicon sealer on the outer surface of the new seals when installing. Put white grease or gun grease in between the 2 seals before replacing the drum. Carefully clean the drum surface that contacts the seals and lube it also before installing. Take your time, get a friend to help, and have at it!
