1066 shift lever

had to pull part of the hood back off a 1066 tonight- the bolt that holds the hi/lo/rev lever came out. I have to wonder how my cousin tightened it as there are no threads (that I could see, it was getting dark) left in that block on the shaft that the bolt threads into. It is strange though because I can wiggle the bolt a little this way and that then pull it straight out. Right now we need it so something needs done. I had to leave that hood section off so we can screw that bolt back in once we shift. IS there any tricks to getting the other lever and the reverse slide off that shaft to get the block off? Is that peice still available from CIH?
