Early last spring a friend of mine invited me to come help plow a few acres of bean ground. So I took my 1940 M, which does have the 4 inch pistons, and also a fresh valve job. The only plow I have is an IH 2-14s, which really isn't a match for the M, but you do what you do. Plowing as deep as possible, third gear was a breeze for the M. I did make a half round using fourth gear, just to see if the M had it, and she only complained just a little. I think if there had been a 4 btm. handy I would have hooked on just to see what would happen.
