Hello, I purchased a 544 farmall last year, actually I traded it for a 574 IH and come to find out the block has many cracks in it. I looked at a few of the junk yards in the area and they only had one that had a hole in it the had been repaired and they wanted 300 for it and another junk yard had one that was in good shape for 1500. My problem is that I have so much i it right now that I cant see my way to buy a 1500 block. Other than the moter the tractor seams to be in good shape. Great sheet metal and all. The only other thing about it that irks me is that it has a swartz wide front on it that looks like it came off of a m farmall. I cant decide if I should sell it as is or part it out or suck it up and buy the 1500 block. Does anyone out there know of a block laying around or have a advice for a direction to go in??? My problem with this tractor in the justification of spending the money on it is that we have a 656 farmall and really need one bigger than it. I would be interested in trades for bigger tractors 856, 756 or along those lines. Thanks for any help.
