My rule for buying old tractors. Dont buy them if you cant or are unwilling to learn to fix them. You can buy a rebuilt torque for about $500 incl all the seals if you do it your self. Also. Unless you are going to be doing any thing heavy with the 460. No real need to repair the torque. It will work fine in high range. Actually though $1200 is not to bad to have some one else put one in. IH wanted $1200 just for the part. Good Luck though. I have had the same kind of luck with my sale finds a time or two. Got a geat deal on my 400. Found out why after I finnished the rear seal, clutch, TA and replaced 5 gears in the tranny. Learned alot and have one heck of a nice 400 now.
