Sounds like you have battery ignition and when you turn on the lights, the battery voltage gets too low to produce a spark causing the engine to stall. Your charging system is not doing it's job; check the generator brushes and related parts. Be sure all connections are clean & tight. As another contributor mentioned, your battery may be failing; have it tested or get a new one.
