The three speed isn't any stronger then the 4 speed that was in the 1466 IMHO - it is sufficently durable for the tractor as long as no one gets carried away turning up the power. It sure doesn't shift any better. We never had a rear end fail in 1566 or 1586, but did have one fail in a 1486 - but then it was on a dozer blade getting some abuse when it happened. I have heard of the 3 speeds going out when there was significant slippage between the two rear tires (plowing without a dual).
