I'll be honest, the 1066s, 1466s, and 1566s being sold in this area (Kansas) are usually on the rough side. Most got used hard through the 80s when nobody had any money and stretched out replacement of worn equipment and got skimpy on maintenance. Consignment auctions are notorious dumping grounds for problem equipment. That is why I remarked that with warranty the tractor is worth about 9K. My brother picked up a 856 with a "new" clutch but otherwise rough appearance for only $2600 a couple years ago. The clutch was installed wrong and immediate started slipping. He ended up replacing it and the TA within 2 months of buying. He didn't get hurt because he bought it cheap enough the purchase price + repairs was in line with the true value of the tractor. It just wasn't the "bargain" he thought he had. "Grass & Grain" (published in Manhattan KS) is a regional (KS mainly) publication that lists nearly a hundred auctions a week ranging from household - farm - consignment - and inventory reduction. They also have a huge classified section for private sellers and dealers. They have a website but do not list their classifieds there. Another publication you might have access to is "Fastline" they list private and dealer listings but don't have near the auction listings unless its a dealer selling out. They are regional to the entire midwest from Il to OK to SD.
