JB: I believe you are right that 1501 became the 1550 shortly after 1968. The other one I see in the 68 guide is the 1701 and it is listed mainly for US built tractors like 504, 544, 606 and 656. Of course in that same guide are the 2000 and 2001 loaders for larger tractors The next guide I have is a 1975 and the loaders are indeed 1550, 1850, 2250 and 2350. Looking at the configuration of the 240 and the fact IH advertized the 1501 for MF 35 and 50, it should be possible to mount a 1501 or a 1550 on a 240 utility very easily, with some minor fabrication. The part I always liked about those loaders for a lighter tractor, it was compact, light, etc. You could pull the pins and drop the bucket for field work and you hardly knew it was on there.
